Feed the Need Foundation for Rural Oklahoma, Inc. (FNF OK, Inc.) provides respite care vouchers for seniors in the planning and service area of the Kiamichi Economic Development District of Oklahoma (KEDDO) for seniors who are 60 years of age and over and grandparents raising grandchildren who are 55 and older.
What is Respite?
Respite is temporary relief for caregivers of any age who care for someone 60 years of age or older, or grandparents 55 years of age and over, who live with and are raising grandchildren who are age 18 years of age and under.
Respite can range from a few hours to a week, depending on the needs and resources of the family. Respite can take place in a variety of settings, such as:
- The family’s home
- The home of a friend or relative
- A church
- A child care center
How does it work?
You may contact the Feed the Need Foundation for Rural Oklahoma, Inc. (FNF OK, Inc.) to obtain an application. Upon approval for the program you will receive a series of vouchers for you to use. The vouchers will come with instructions and how they should be used. Payment to the provider may be an hourly, daily or weekly rate. You choose a respite provider and set the amount. The provider completes the Amount Claimed and signs and dates the voucher. The caregiver then completes all remaining information, signs the voucher and submits it to FNF OK for payment. FNF OK will then issue a check to the respite provider.
How can Respite Time be Used?
Caregivers can use respite hours in the manner that best meets personal needs and desires. It can be used to visit family or friends, to run errands, spend an evening at the movies, to take a vacation, to participate in recreational activities or to just catch up on much needed rest.
It is FNF OK, Inc’s policy that the project does not discriminate in admissions, access, treatment or employment in its programs or activities on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, age, ancestry, national origin, religion or disability; and a portion of the projects costs are met by state and federal Older Americans Act funds granted from the KEDDO Area Agency on Aging and the Department of Human Services Aging Service Division.
